Could you use another $100 – $200/week for working only 2 hours/day?

Science Playhouse is looking for outgoing, hands-on Lead Instructors and Assistants to be part of our team!  We offer part-time positions in our after school and holiday programs.

You will work 2 hours/day, teaching Science and/or Tech classes in various schools around CS and Monument area.  If you enjoy working with kids, have a great personality, looking for a part-time opportunity, and want to make a difference, then we want YOU!

We offer fun and engaging, 100% hands-on programs in Science, Programming, 3D Modeling/Printing and Robotics.  If you have a background in any of these and/ or teaching experience with kids ages 6 to 12, please send us your resume.  We do provide paid training.

Our part-time opportunities offer:

• Work only between 3pm and 5pm, Monday – Friday, in various schools
• Need to commit to at least 3 afternoons/week
• All lesson plans and supplies provided
• A paid training program
• $10/hour salary for Assistants (high school students and normally college freshmen/sophmores)
• $20/hour for Instructors (upper college students, retired teachers, qualified people looking for part-time work)

We need people who:

• are smart, enthusiastic, personable and adaptable.
• are reliable and punctual.
• love working with kids – this is a must!!!
• love science and/or technology.
• already have established part-time schedules/ are not looking for a FT job.
• have experience working with kids in classrooms or at camp.
• have a habit of responding quickly to text/ email. MUST have a working reliable phone!
• have at least a few years of college, and preferably a STEM degree/ major.
• have a reliable, insured and registered car, along with a valid local driver’s license.
• are 100% fluent in English; can write interesting, concise and grammatically correct notes home to parents.
• have great references.
• can pass our rigorous background check.
• can teach 3+ afternoons a week, between 3pm and 5pm during the school year.  We do not hire for summer only; only our year-round instructors are invited to teach at our summer camps.

We prefer people who are:

• experienced working with kids ages 6 to 12, and know classroom management skills!
• enthusiastic about a hobby, especially one that’s related to science or technology.
• can share a picture / description of an interesting project they’ve made/ are working on!

What instructors do:

• Teach our Science or Tech classes
• Lead class, be responsible for all class equipment and materials, communicate with parents in person and via email.
• Instructors have the option, but not the requirement, to lead birthday parties on weekends.

What assistants do:

• Show up for class and assist as needed. No responsibilities for equipment or parent communication.

We offer:

• Paid training at $10/hour, in a classroom, for at least 4 weeks.  Qualified assistants can earn a promotion to Instructor after 4 weeks of training.
• A fun, flexible work environment. Most of our instructors are part-time students and/ or have half-time jobs and/or are stay-at-home moms or dads. Some are changing careers or saving for grad school. Our instructors choose the days and times they are available to work. They go on vacation whenever they want.
• Great pay – instructors get paid $40 per class hour.  NOTE: one class hour includes your time to take care of the class equipment and materials; to write a note to the parents and upload class photos on a weekly basis.
• Monthly paychecks + option for direct deposit.
• Paid training.
• A chance to work side by side with senior instructors, many of whom have STEM degrees/ careers.
• Spot bonuses.
• A fun teaching experience – great for you if you are considering a career in teaching.
• Small class sizes. Most classes have 12-16 students.  Maximum student-adult ratio is 12:1. Compare that to ratios of up to 17:1 to 26: 1 !!!!! for similar programs.
